TRY YET AGAIN


One of the hardest things to do is to try again after you have failed. Even harder is to try again after you have failed a dozen or so times. And much harder still is, after one hundred failures, to get up and try one more time. Many people, when confronted with failure just resign themselves to the idea that it will always be this way. But it doesn't have to always be this way. No matter how long it has been this way, it doesn't have to stay this way. You can turn a new page, you can begin a new chapter, and you can start a new life.
In order to accomplish this, you must learn a lesson that Simon Peter learned at the feet of Jesus. He and his fellow professional fishermen came up empty after working an all-nighter. Jesus told him to go out where it was deeper and let down their nets and they would catch some fish. Peter followed his directions and, sure enough, those guys caught so many fish their nets began to tear. So awestruck by the amount of fish they caught when they got back to the shore, they left their nets behind to follow Jesus full time and become “fishers of men.” (Luke 5:1-11) 


What does this story have to do with starting a new life? 


First, even if you’ve worked hard at something and have come up empty again and again and again don’t be afraid to go out into the deep. That’s where Jesus is calling you. Don’t be afraid to dream, even after every failed attempt, your greatest success is just a few steps away. Go out into the deep! 


Second, the most powerful spiritual principle you will ever learn is the power of casting again. It’s the secret to success in any endeavor. Keep casting your net. Try yet again! Get up and stay in the fight. Keep trying. God can redeem a failure, but he can’t do much with a quitter. Failures who give up are a dime a dozen. Failures that get up and try yet again are one in a million. If you need motivation, do like Peter and say, “Lord, if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.”
Finally, this new beginning that you’re being called to, I want you to know that there is more where that came from. God has great things in store for you, so much more than just one full net. That’s where the blessing begins but that’s not where it ends.

Jesus is nearby. Right where you're sitting at this moment, you're within the sound of his voice. He's calling out to you. He knows you've been discouraged. He knows you're just about ready to give up — on your job, on your marriage, on your family, on yourself. And so he's calling out to you. He's saying, "Don't settle for less. Don't stay here in the shallow end. Move out into the deep. Dare to dream. Dare to hope. Dare to believe. And dare to cast your net yet again. Ignore the voice that's saying things will always be the way they are today. Ignore the voice saying you may as well as give up and go away. Ignore that voice and cast your net into the deep once again, because there's something out there for you.

SIN-GUARD
