CRUMBLING CONFIDENCE RESOLUTION

When your confidence has been manifestly shattered its time for divine confidence to manifest itself into your life. David the psalmist laid it down this way; “The Lord will work out his plans for my life—for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever” (Psalm 138:8). This expresses what so often is missed in finding a resolution from crumbling confidence. Notice David didn’t say “I have enough grace to work this out, or my faith is so resolute and firm I will make it through.” No! David proclaimed his dependence was solely on the Lord.

If you indulge in any confidence which is not grounded on Christ the Solid Rock you are dreaming Never Land dreams that will result in ruinous sorrow and confusion. If you placed the workings of your own hands as fortifications of your confidence, time will unravel your embankments. David demonstrated great wisdom in his words. He depended upon nothing short of the Lord’s work. It is the Lord Jesus Christ who began a good work in you and will carry it on to completion (Philippians 1:6). Don’t lose sight of this truth when things unravel around you. What the Lord begins in you he finishes! He does it, must do it, will do it all for his glory!

Your confidence should not be in what you have done or in what you have planned to do, but must be in what the Lord will do. You must not let unbelief, voiced by Satan, creep in and suggest— “Your heart is less than perfect and your proclivity to slip into the temptations of the world that led you astray will never allow you to be able to stand.” One thing is for sure, if you buy into that lie you will need to rely upon you own strength. But Christ-follower why would you? Depend on the Lord’s faithful work on your behalf.

Thanks be to God your crumbling confidence can be resolved. He will work out his plans for your life. He is faithful to do so and love on you while he is doing it. You will never be so confident as when you confide in Christ alone trusting him with your concerns—confidence rightly restored!
